The prosecutors have seized about 7 million lei discovered in the doctors’ offices during the searches conducted in the corruption scheme file at the Republican Center for Medical Diagnostics. Also in this case, an estate and two cars were seized.
The information was provided to CrimeMoldova by the Head of the Information and Communication Service of the Anticorruption Prosecution, Anastasia Mihălceanu.
The money was raised from the offices of doctors, from their homes, as well as from the metal boxes, deposited in two commercial banks from the capital.
Those detained in the file are doctors, assistants, and representatives of private clinics who would put on a scheme of cashing out money from insured patients to conduct imaging and CT scan. Among the people detained are also the head of the Department of Radiology and Computed Tomography of the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center - SilviuCondrea. He was placed in custody for 30 days.
A total of 14 people are investigated in the file for influence peddling and passive corruption.
If they are found guilty, the suspects risk up to 10 years in prison and a fine of 400,000 lei.
