An online casino in Chisinau that was activating illegally was discovered by police. The business was run by two men aged 46 and 47 years respectively, residing in Chisinau.
According to law enforcers, the suspects rented a commercial space of about 500 square meters in the Botanica sector of the capital where they installed 12 tables and electronic equipment intended for casinos and gambling activities. According to the legislation, the operator was required to pay fees in the amount of 576 thousand lei for each table, which it has not been done. Thus, the two suspects caused damage to the state in extremely large proportions.
The casino worked 24 out of 24, in three shifts. 80 young women aged between 20 and 32 were employed in the gambling hall, functioning as managers and dealers. The female employees organized online games via internet network with participants from the country and abroad. They were remunerated with a monthly salary of 5,000 lei.
The investigation officers have followed the illegal activity of the casino for 4 months. Following the investigations, the officials have determined that the enterprise is part of a network registered abroad.
In addition, according to police the online casino operates since 2013, although its owners had no documents that allow carrying out this type of activity.
The police stopped the business and the building was sealed up to the establishment of all the circumstances of the case. According to the legislation, persons found guilty of "Tax evasion of enterprises, institutions and organizations" shall be punished by a fine of up to 100 000 lei or by imprisonment for up to 6 years.
