The man who, in the spring of this year, murdered his ex-wife and threw her body into the garbage, was sentenced to 13 years in prison. He fully acknowledged his guilt and was tried in a simplified procedure.
The woman's body was found by a scavenger on the morning of March 13 in a bag near the trashcans on Sucevita Street in the Buiucani sector of the capital.
The investigation found that the defendant strangled his ex-wife, aged 29, while she was asleep. Subsequently, to hide the traces of the crime, he put the victim's body in a bag and took it to the garbage.
The suspect was detained shortly, and until the sentence was pronounced he was in custody.
The man has previously worked in the Border Police, and the victim - within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The sentence may be appealed.
