The officers of North General Territorial Directorate (GTD) under NAC and anticorruption prosecutors detained a citizen of Ukraine, when he tried to bribe a customs officer.

According to the informer, the Ukrainian citizen allegedly offered the Head of the North Mobile Service Team, cash in the amount of $ 100 to escape responsibility for preventing the customs control.

Following special investigative measures and criminal investigation, the suspect was caught red-handed. He was recognized as a suspect and detained for 72 hours.

For this type of crime, the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova provides punishment by imprisonment of up to 6 years and a fine of 2,000 to 4,000 conventional units.

Criminal investigations are managed by Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.
