A lawyer from Stefan Voda was detained by the National Anticorruption Center officers and corruption prosecutors, being suspected of influence peddling. According to the NAC, the woman is the 19th lawyer detained this year for corruption.

According to the informer, the lawyer had claimed and received 3000 euros to influence the prosecutor and the judge managing a criminal case, initiated against the informer, the goal being to retraining their actions. This would have created the premise for the subsequent application of amnesty.

The money transmitted under the NAC control, were handed over voluntarily and the suspect admitted her guilt and is being investigated at large.

A criminal investigation was initiated on this case for influence peddling.

If found guilty, the lawyer is facing a punishment by imprisonment of up to six years or a fine of up to 4,000 conventional units - the equivalent of 200 000 lei.
