A man from Balti has been detained by the NAC this morning, May 16, on suspicion of influence peddling. He allegedly received 4700 lei and 350 euros from a defendant's mother pretending to bribe the case prosecutor and a judge from Glodeni.

According to the investigation, in December 2017, the suspect, together with an intermediary, claimed the money to influence an accuser and a judge to rule out an acquittal for the denouncer’s son. The man, who wanted to be acquitted, was tried for dealing narcotic substances.

The resident of Balti, suspected of influence peddling, was detained for 72 hours.

If found guilty, he risks up to 6 years of imprisonment, or a fine of up to 200 thousand lei.
