On May 17, anticorruption officers and prosecutors arrested a militia officer from Grigoriopol for trying to bribe a police officer. The suspect is prosecuted for active corruption.
The case was denounced by a police officer, who said that the driver of a suspicious car offered him a bribe of 500 euros not to document the case and release the means of transport.
The car of the suspect, VW "TOUAREG", was stopped on April 8 in the domestic customs point in the village of Pirita, Dubasari.

In order not to document the case and to release the means of transport, the Transnistrian militiaman offered the head of the Department for the investigation of economic frauds within Dubasari Police Inspectorate, 500 euros. The police officer firmly refused the offer, informing the NAC and AP.
On May 17, law enforcers staged the meeting, in which the suspect gave the promised amount to the police officer and was immediately caught and detained for 72 hours. It will be decided on the application of preventive measure with regard to the suspect.
A criminal case has been initiated in this respect. If found guilty, the suspect may face a prison sentence of up to 6 years with a fine in the amount of 100,000 to 200,000 lei.
