A resident of Orhei was detained on Tuesday, December 6 this year, on charges of influence peddling.
According to the informer, the man had requested a sum of 16,000 euro, claiming to have influence on the decision-makers from several courts of the first instance and the court of appeal that had to examine the case of drug dealing, initiated against the denouncer’s son.
In the course of investigations, it was established that the suspect had previously requested and received an amount of 7,500 euro from the denouncer and then he claimed a sum of 8,500 euros. Thus, the man was arrested in the act of receiving the sum of 8500 euros.
Currently, the suspect is detained for 72 hours, being held in the isolation ward.
A criminal case for influence peddling was initiated in this respect. If found guilty, the suspect faces a fine of up to 4,000 conventional units (200 000 lei) or imprisonment of up to six years.
