The three tax inspectors and two company managers, detained last week in the tax evasion file, damaged the state budget by about 3 million lei. The money would have been obtained from illegal alcohol business.
According to the police, the employees of the State Tax Service would have favored, starting with 2018, the access of the decision-makers of the enterprise to the sealed deposits of a tax office in Orhei where quantities of ethyl alcohol were stored. Subsequently, the employees of the companies would have sold about 35,000 liters of ethyl alcohol in the amount of over 4 million lei, without the elaboration of fiscal acts.
Following the investigations, it was established that a "Volvo" model truck with a tanker came out of the enterprise. Subsequently, the police stopped the truck, carrying 7 tons of ethyl alcohol, 7 tons of raw alcohol and 10 tons of wine, without papers. The truck and the cargo found, were raised by law enforcement.
As a result of the searches carried out in this case, more than 1.1 million lei were raised and drafts about the fraudulent activity of the enterprise.
Currently, four of the five suspects have received arrest warrants.
The employees of the State Tax Service are suspected of abuse of service, and company managers are suspected of tax evasion in particularly high proportions.
If they are found guilty, the businessmen risk fines and up to six years in prison.
