The head of the Department of Radiology and Computed Tomography of the Republican Center for Medical Diagnostics, Silviu Condrea, and two other persons investigated in the same file will remain in custody. The decisions were detained on Wednesday, August 8, by the magistrates of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
The head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office for Information and Communication, Anastasia Mihălceanu, told CrimeMoldova that the appeals were filed with the Court of Appeal by the suspects' lawyers.
The three people have previously received 30 days of preventive arrest.
Also in this case, by the decision of the first instance, a person was placed in custody for 25 days and another one - for 20 days. At the same time, another accused was placed in house arrest for 30 days, and one of the suspects was released for collaboration with the investigation.
The detainees are doctors, assistants, and representatives of private clinics who would have established a scheme of cashing out money from insured patients to carry out imaging and computed tomography investigations. Among the detained persons is also the head of the Department of Radiology and Computed Tomography of the Republican Medical Diagnostic Center - Silviu Condrea, who would have managed the scheme.
In total, 14 people are investigated in the file for abuse of service and passive corruption.
If they are found guilty, the suspects risk up to 10 years in prison and a fine of 400,000 lei.
