A young man of 24, is held for 72 hours, with the appliance of the preventive measure of arrest for 30 days, notifies the General Inspectorate of Police.
On 1 September 2016, the police were informed by the victim,that the young man has been blackmailing her for eight months.
The uspect, under the pretext that he had pictures of compromising and intimate character, allegedly threatened her with disclosing the information to her relatives, and posting the photos on social networks, unless he receives the money requested. In February, the victim sent money to the suspect in the amount of EUR 1.100.
And in September, the current suspect, under the same pretext, via mobile phone and social network, asked for EUR 500.
On 5 September, he was arrested red-handed in Cahul, while receiving the sum of EUR 500. Following the hearings, the young man admitted his guilt.
According to the legislation, persons found guilty of "blackmail" , risk jail term of 7 to 10 years with a fine of MDL 30.000 to 40.000.
