A German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, while on an official visit to  Moldova, was hit on May 15 by a Moldovan driver. As a result, the official has suffered bodily injuries. The incident took place on N. Iorga Street in the capital, near the theoretical high school "Prometheus". The Prosecutor's Office of Chisinau has initiated criminal prosecution on this matter.

According to the institution, the official was injured by a woman who was driving a Jaguar model car. She would not have been cautious and has hit the dignitary, who was walking right on the sidewalk as a pedestrian. As a result of the impact, the victim has a fracture and needed medical attention.

The driver is facing a punishment of up to 3 years of imprisonment.
