The Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova announced in a press release that there was identified and detained a foreign citizen, affiliate to the fundamentalist doctrines promoted by the international terrorist organizations.
The arrested man is a Syrian citizen. He was under the ISS surveillance for 6 months. The information gathered by the ISS confirmed that he was tied with some terrorist organizations like the DAESH and the Hezbollah, including his contacts with the external terrorist’s organizations members.
Currently, the security forces investigate the circumstances of the Syrian entry in Moldova and the reasons he came here for.
Considering the potential terrorist risks by his presence in the Republic of Moldova, he was declared the persona non grata and obliged to leave the country in accordance with the international procedures and standards. The Syrian detention was the result of common actions of the ISS officers and the Bureau of Migration and Asylum of MIA.
