The criminal case accusing Alexandru Ciobanu, a specialist in the department of housing and communal sector of Centre sector preture from Chisinau, was sent to trial.
The announcement was made by the public relations department of the General Prosecutor’s Office, stating that the criminal investigation on illegal circulation of drugs for the purpose of alienation, involving the public official, was finished two months ago.
Alexandru Ciobanu, aged 28, is accused by prosecutors that he sold heroin at a price of over two thousand lei per gram. At the moment of his arrest, several doses of heroin ready for sale were found at the accused.
The defendant was marketing the heroin in downtown of the capital city, right next to a preschool institution.
Following the searches carried out at his residence, there were found scales and more pouches designed to divide the drugs, and another quantity of heroin was found in his office room.
Please note that some police sources have stated for CrimeMoldova that he would have sold heroin for the amount of 2,400 lei per gram. Before getting arrested, an undercover officer made a control purchase from Ciobanu.
According to the police, the defendant was detained not only for drug trafficking but also for drug paraphernalia in the workplace.
Ciobanu is arrested preventively and if his guilt will be proven, he faces up to 7 years imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to practice certain activities for a period of 3-5 years.
