Former Vice President of the Court of Auditors, Tudor Soitu, 66, whose office term expired in July 2016, will be prosecuted for driving while intoxicated. 

The Mercedes, driven by the former official was stopped by patrol agents at the intersection of Ismail and Columna streets in Chisinau. During the discussion with the driver, the police officer felt a strong odor of alcohol.

Soitu underwent an alcohol test, which found a concentration of 0.35 mg/l of alcohol in his breath.

A criminal case was initiated in this respect, in accordance with Art. 264/1 para 1 of the Criminal Code, which provides for a fine of 400 to 500 conventional units and disqualification from driving a car for a period of up to 5 years.

Another former member of the Court of Auditors, Gheorghe Trocin, is accused of causing an accident in November 2013, resulting in the death of a 6-year-old child. The case is pending in Straseni District Court.
