Vlad Filat will remain in custody for another 30 days, after the Court of Appeals rejected the lawers appeal to reliase the head of the Liberal-Democratic Party. The prosecutors have not listened any of Filat's party colleagues’ requests. They demanded that Filat should be under the house imprisonment under their guarantee.
The politician is accused of corruption and abuse of power. During the investigation, he remains in custody. He can be imprisoned from 7 to 15 years.
The former head of the Banca de Economii bank Grigore Gacikevici also remains in the NAC custody on Easter holidays. The Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of Gacikevici’s lawyer, who requested his release and investigation of his case in the state of freedom.
The former head of the Banca de Ecomonii Grigore Gacikevici was detained as a suspect in the case on violating the rules of the crediting while he was the president at Banca de Economii. He is accused of favoring the acquisition and crediting of two businessmen on fraudulence conditions worth over 2 million euros.
Gacikevici was arrested and jailed in early December.
Both Filat and Gacikevici declare their innocence.
