Five residents of Ungheni district, members of a criminal group, accused of committing the offense of illegal drug trafficking for estrangement in particularly large proportions, will face the court.
According to available information, the defendants sowed cannabis plants in the garden of a member of the organized criminal group. They cultivated marijuana in particularly large proportions. Subsequently, the perpetrators divided drugs into smaller doses and sold them to drug addicts for amounts ranging from 130 to 150 lei per gram.
The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes announces that they carried out several searches in different locations in Ungheni district. The localities concerned were the villages of Radeniii Vechi, Pirlita and Rezina. In the course of investigation, law enforcers made control acquisitions of marijuana. Following these actions, large amounts of marijuana, cannabis and cannabis seeds intended for further cultivation, as well as other types of drugs (opium and poppy straw) were identified and seized.
If found guilty, the defendants risk up to 15 years of imprisonment.
