An organized criminal group of Chechen origin, was arrested and placed in custody on Friday, December 2nd, in Paris, France. They are suspected of committing armed banditry attacks on Moldovan citizens. The victims were the drivers of minibuses Chisinau-Paris, and the attacks were aimed to steal financial assets and deprivation of means of transport and their restitution through extortion.
The four individuals of Chechen origin, aged between 26 and 35 years, have committed these offenses in the period of time from October 23rd to November 26th of this year, in France.
During the criminal investigation, several arrests and raids were carried out by the General Police Inspectorate (GPI) of Moldova and the Repression of Banditry Brigade of the Judicial Police from Paris, with the support of Europol.
The head of Public Relations Department, Natalia Bucur-Bandas said that the law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the case. Natalia Bucur-Bandas said: “We can’t offer you any more information on this matter, we will give you more details about the progress of the criminal investigation later.”
