The leader of a criminal group has been detained by police for human trafficking. The suspect is a 35 year-old resident of Ungheni.
According to the police, the group has been operating since 2012. In all these years, the suspects abused socially vulnerable people, exploiting them for begging.
So far, police identified five people (four women and one man) aged between 20 and 50 years.
Additionally, the suspects promised the victims a good salary in the Russian Federation. Once arrived in Russia, the suspects withdrew the victim’s identity documents and made them perform various agricultural work and beg, without paying them initially promised salaries.
According to the judges’ decision, the man was arrested for a period of 30 days.
The police initiated a criminal case in this respect. If found guilty, the suspect risk a prison term of 7 to 15 years.
