A man, aged 40, previously sentenced to 20 years in prison, was detained by law enforcements on suspicion of illicit drug trafficking in the country. His detention was held on December 4, 2016.
In 1993, when he was 17, the man was convicted to 20 years in prison for several crimes (drugs trade, robbery, theft).
At present, the suspect was arrested for heroin trade to a small circle of people. According to law enforcers, he worked alone and mostly at nighttime, being wanted since 2015 for a large-scale theft and illicit drug trafficking.
The detention was held with the help of an undercover investigator, who bought heroin from the suspect.
Press officer of the National Inspectorate of Investigation, Diana Sochirca, said the suspect bought the drugs in the country. "Groups of people involved in drug marketing were made up of consumers and smaller dealers. The suspect has been involved in drug marketing for decades. In the course of the hearings he admitted his guilt, " Sochirca said.
The dealer sold a gram of heroin, enough for 4-6 users, for 3,000 lei. The drugs were sold only to trusted people in particularly large quantities.
Following the investigative measures, law enforcements seized over 3 grams of heroin, 40 000 lei, 3000 euros, mobile phones, and other objects that serve as evidence in the criminal case.
From the moment of his arrest, the man is serving his sentence in the form of imprisonment for a term of 16 years and then he will be sentenced for the offense, for which he had been announced wanted and drug dealing.
In this respect, a criminal case was initiated for illegal circulation of drugs, ethnobotanics, or analogues thereof for the purpose of alienation. The suspect risks a prison sentence of 7-15 years.
