A resident of the capital will be tried for committing a car accident resulting in death of a person and leaving the crime scene.
The press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office (GPO) said that the accedent occurred on the 28th of November on Grenoble street from the capital.
According to the prosecutors, the suspect has hit a pedestrian crossing the street according to the law. After the incident, the driver left the crime scene, trying to avoid taking responsibility for the committed crime, and without calling an ambulance, transported the victim to the staircase of his block, leaving him there in very serious condition.
Subsequently, the victim's neighbors called an ambulance, which transported the man to hospital where he died the same day, as a result of serious injuries.
The main specialist of the Public Relations Department of the GPO, Eugen Rosca said that the victim was 64 years old.
The 45-year-old suspect, who was previously convicted of other crimes, is currently in custody and if found guilty of infractions, he faces a sentence of up to seven years in prison.
