The Moldovan citizen Valeriu Graur, wanted by Interpol for committing a murder, rape and sexual assault in Russia, was detained in Romania. The offender was issued and all check points since March of this year.
The official representative of the Ministry of Interior of Russia Irina Volk, stated that “The members of Interpol and the Russian Interior Ministry will support today the procedure of extradition from Romania to Russia of the Moldovan citizen Valeriu Graur.”
He was included in the list of internationally wanted via Interpol, at the initiative of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Moscow city, March 2016. Graur is accused of murder, rape and sexual assault.
According to investigators, in 2004, the offender raped a girl in Moscow and then strangled her with the belt of her pants and disappeared.
During the investigations carried out by police, it was found that Graur left Russia. He was included in the criminal investigations of Interpol. The offender was arrested by Romanian police in September of this year.
Graur is to be extradited, after a petition of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation was submitted at the request of the competent bodies of Romania. He has already been transferred to the Russian convoy at the airport in Bucharest.
