The young man, who killed his six-month-old baby because she did not want to sleep, would spend 30 days in custody. The decision was announced on Tuesday, May 16 by the magistrates of Ungheni District Court, sources from the Prosecutor's Office of Ungheni District told for CrimeMoldova.
The case took place in the village of Macaresti, Ungheni District, on Saturday night, May 13. The child's father is 25 years old and comes from Floresti. His lover is 21 years old. It all happened when the young man, who was visiting his lover's mother, being drunk, punched the child in the head to silence her. Subsequently, the girl died before the arrival of the ambulance.
The suspect explains his deeds by the nervous breakdown, caused by the girl's crying. At the same time, according to law enforcers, he acknowledges his guilt.
Similarly, prosecutors say that the child’s parents live in the village of Calinesti, Floresti District and the 6-month-old girl was in the care of her grandmother, in the village of Macaresti, Ungheni, as her parents went to work in Chisinau.
It was not the first time, when the child's father displayed violence with respect to the child. When the girl was three months old, the young man broke her leg. Then the suspect was detained and investigated at large for domestic violence.
Prosecutors also said that the psychiatric expertise showed that he was responsible at the time when he inflicted multiple blows to the child, but currently, the suspect is followed-up by a psychiatrist, diagnosed with a slight retardation.
Law enforcers initiated a criminal case for domestic violence, causing serious injuries resulting in death. If found guilty, the suspect risks 12 to 15 years of imprisonment.
