Six people, aged between 22 and 47, have been detained for human trafficking. They subjected to labor exploitation socially vulnerable persons, originating from various places of the country.
Security forces determined that the suspects, residents of Floresti district, practiced this activity from 2011 to the present.
By deception, they recruited over 100 people, promising them employment on favorable terms in the field of agriculture. The suspects prepared their travel documents and arranged everything for the trip to the Russian Federation. When arrived at their destination, the suspects took the victims’ documents and then, threatening them with physical and psychological violence, forced the victims to work in the fields against their will and without payment.
Following several searches, carried out in the homes and cars of criminal group members, police officers detected and seized various objects, such as travel documents, belonging to the current and potential victims, notes on suspects’ profits obtained from criminal activities and other evidence that will allow sending the criminal case to court.
The police are taking measures to establish all the circumstances of the offense, to identify the persons involved in this case and other victims, who had suffered from the activities of this criminal group.
Currently, the suspects are in custody. According to criminal legislation in force, persons found guilty of "trafficking in human beings" can be punished by imprisonment of 7 to 20 years.
