Two young men from Chisinau are suspected of spreading child pornography. The employees of the Centre for combating cybercrimes of the National Investigation Inspectorate, together with the General Prosecutor's Office stopped the distribution of over 800 photo and video files representing minors involved in sexual activities and their abusers.
According to the investigations, the men, aged between 20 and 38 years, owned and distributed pictures showing child pornography. One suspect works as a programmer in an IT company and the other one is a student at a university in Chisinau.
The police have established the place and location of the IT system, connected to the "Internet", through which the men exchanged the images and videos of children aged between 4 and 12 years old, sexually abused by adult males.
Following the searches conducted at the homes of the suspects there have been withdrawn two computers, a notebook, an iPad and a mobile phone.
If convicted, the suspects risk imprisonment for a term of 1 to 3 years.
Currently, the CCCI officers continue the measures aimed at establishing the „Internet” network users involved in committing perverse actions online or distributing images and videos that represent minors involved in sexual activity, as well as in identifying the individuals who directly abused the children sexually.
It is noteworthy that, according to the survey on the results obtained by competent institutions during the first six months of 2016 in fighting the cybercrimes, made public today by the Prosecutor General, child pornography offenses are among the most common cybercrimes committed in Moldova.
