General Prosecutor's Office announced that it will not engage in political confrontations and electoral disputes that arise in connection with the presidential campaign. The decision comes after the large number of requests and complaints to the institution by candidates.

Prosecution argues that resolving the requests from politicians, is not under prosecutors competence, so that the institution will delineate any attempt to be drawn into political and electoral confrontations.

The institution pointed out that it is an independent and apolitical institution, launching an appeal to all candidates and political parties to refrain from putting it in the electoral competition and engage in a political debate.

Prosecution will be involved only if certain violations of law occur, reiterating that the main purpose of the institution and employees is to respect the rule of law, administering justice, and defending of rights and freedoms of society and the individual.
