PAS president, Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook page that she informed the Constitutional Court, on the law prohibiting citizens living abroad to pay dues and make contributions to political parties, calling for raising the objection of unconstitutionality.

According to the politician, "the prohibition at issue violates the principle of equality before the law, suppress freedom of association and is contrary to the recommendations of the Venice Commission and other international institutions".

In her message, Sandu wrote that "only transparent funding of political parties, from small donations, including from citizens living abroad, will bring down dependence of  politics over the interests of oligarchs."

The Court was informed after, under the law on political parties, PAS has refused to accept a donation of MDL 5.000 from a citizen in Italy, and he sued the party seeking the annulment of the refusal.
