Vitalie Pereu was sent to the Department of Penitentiary Institutions to serve his sentence.
11 members of the criminal organization "Makena" were sentenced earlier to a total of 175 years in prison. The criminal case was initiated in early 2010, following the complaints of several detainees, claiming that they were blackmailed and threatened with death by a group of convicts and members of the criminal organization "Makena". The prosecutors determined that Vladimir Moscalciuc, convicted and detained in various prisons from the country, established a criminal organization entitled "Makena", during the years 1999-2000. The criminal organization consisted of other criminal groups already existing and operating, one of which – on the territory of Prison “Pruncul”. The interlope network members would blackmail other detainees from the penitentiary, aiming to create monetary funds to support the organization within the penitentiary institutions and to gain new members. They were threatened with death if they refused to pay large sums of money.
