The Moldovan citizen, Grigore Filimon, aged 36, was sentenced to three years of imprisonment in Italy, for stealing a bus, the Italian press writes.
A bus of a Mercedes model, worth about EUR 100 thousand, was stolen on the night of 5 January 2012, from a parking lot in Pordenone, Italy.
Later, the man tried to transport the vehicle to Eastern Europe, avoiding the customs control. But he was caught by surveillance cameras at the border with Slovenia. The Moldovan was accompanied by a Lithuanian citizen, both of them being investigated for theft now.
As a result, on 11 October, the Italian authorities condemned the Moldovan to three years of imprisonment and to a compensation of damages for the stolen bus.
According to the Italian media, the bus has not been recovered after the theft.
