After the detentions carried out 2 days ago at the customs points from Sculeni and Leuşeni customs points, 10 customs officers received 25 and 30 days arrest warrants. Six of them will stay in the insulator, and the other four will be under house arrest.
The decision on the application of arrest warrants has been approved by the Buiucani Court, which will review some other requests on Friday, November 4th,on further application of arrest warrants.
The customs officers are accused of requesting money from the drivers crossing the border. The National Anticorruption Center and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office stated that the bribe amounts vary between 20 and 650 euros.
Bogdan Zumbreanu, the head of the Criminal Investigation Department from the National Anti-Corruption Centre (NAC), said during a press conference, that the individuals accused, are suspected of falsifying data from INTERBUS books and a criminal case was initiated on that matter, in the beginning of the year.
As a result of the operations carried out two days ago, 30 people were detained, including 14 customs officers, 3 border guards, 6 economic operators and 7 drivers.
Those who will be found guilty, will face up to 10 years in prison.
