Viorel Morari made certain statements on today's searches at several banks and companies that would be involved in the billion theft schemes in the banking system.
According to Morari’s statements, the businessman Veaceslav Platon is accused by anti-corruption prosecutors in the Savings Bank’s case. He would have benefited from bad loans worth 800 million lei. Thus, an arrest warrant for a period of 30 days was issued on his name and he was declared internationally wanted.
The head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office said that two people from the banking system in Moldova were detained by prosecutors and currently are being heard, while other two persons are quoted in this case. In addition, Morari confirmed that searches were conducted at five companies and a few banks in our country: Victoribank, Moldinconbank, Moldova Agroindbank and at the insurance company ASITO.
Morari refused to provide more details based on the consideration that several criminal proceedings, as well as special investigative measures to establish all the circumstances are currently on-going.
