The prosecution offered new details about the yesterday searches in the office of a representative of the Committee of Credit Enterprise of the "Giuvaier Jewelry Factory", who is an employee of the Ministry of Economy and of other persons involved in criminal acts.
The searches took place in a criminal case, initiated in November 2016, on the fact of abuse of office, resulting in serious consequences to public interests.
The criminal proceedings were initiated at the request of the Moldovan Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, through which the alleged illegal actions of the liquidator SE "Giuvaier Jewelry Factory", being the in process of bankruptcy. The illegalities were admitted to the examination of the case in the insolvency proceedings, brought against the factory, whose founder is the Ministry of Economy, the state being stripped of it’s assets.

During the criminal investigation of the liquidator, who was detained by the prosecutors, the measure of preventive arrest for a period of 30 days was applied. Three other people were cited by prosecutors to be heard as suspects.
For abuse of office resulted in serious consequences, the law provides for a fine from 1350-2350 conventional units or imprisonment from 2 to 6 years, in both cases with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to practice certain activities for a period of 5 to 10 years.
