Anti-corruption prosecutors have requested today the Buiucani District Court of Chisinau to rule out a 30- day remand for the four men, detained in the case of swindle with real estate properties.
The men are suspected of abuse of power, allowing several irregularities in the construction of residential buildings, which resulted in damages incurred by 140 investors.
The entrepreneurs are charged with building 12 floors instead of 6, as foreseen by the project for the development of the Paradise Residential Complex, situated in 115 Alexandru cel Bun St, Chisinau.
Moreover, the companies have concluded investment contracts with individuals and legal entities for housing, located on the floors that were built contrary to the existing project.
The residential complex was to be commissioned back in 2014, but the work was halted on demand of the State Construction Inspectorate, as well as of the Chisinau City Hall.
Following the searches carried out by anticorruption officers on the premises of the companies concerned, as well as in the homes and cars of the suspects, documents, computers, and three luxury cars, belonging to the suspects, were seized.
The companies involved in the construction of this complex have been declared insolvent, or are going through an insolvency process.
Currently, the administrator, the founder and two other people from two construction companies have been detained for 72 hours, being investigated for abuse of power.
If found guilty, the accused are liable to imprisonment of up to 6 years.
