Last week, the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office started a new case on purchasing surveillance cameras for high school graduation exam.
The prosecutors will investigate the Ministry of Education leading figures.
The Chisinau prosecutor Igor Popa, declared for deschide.md that they started the legal procedure based on several remarks from his office, after the press published several materials regarding suspicious circumstances in which the case was closed.
He stated for the same source :“ In this criminal case the actions of the commercial agent were investigated, who was contracted to deliver the surveillance cameras. Now we are investigating the Ministry of Education leading figures with regard to the organization of that auction. This legal procedure is based on the article 327 - The abuse of power or malfeasance in office and on the article 328 – Abuse of authority or abuse of office.”
Please note that the criminal case was opened on May 31st 2013 after an anonymous complaint regarding the acquisition of surveillance cameras for high school graduation exams, and was closed after only 6 months of investigation. Ion Diacov was the Prosecutor of Chisinau at that time.
Diacov stated for the same source that the file was indeed closed, but he wasn’t involved in any way in the closing of that case.
