Three men were detained by the police for drug smuggling and illicit trafficking of heroin on the territory of the country, as well as for marketing them in particularly large quantities.
They were detained in Râșcani sector of the capital city, while they were planning to sell a large amount of heroin. The suspects are aged between 28 and 33, and are residents of Chisinau.
The press officer of the National Investigation Inspectorate, Diana Sochircă, said that the group was working for half a year. Sochircă said that “The drugs were brought from the Russian Federation. Detainees have no criminal record. Currently, the case is investigated to identify other suspects involved in the criminal activity of this group.”
Following the searches, there were identified and seized about 100 grams of heroin. The drug is sold among drug user at about 2400-2800 lei per gram, and the total value of the drugs found constitutes about 250 000 lei.
The suspects were detained for 72 hours and will be brought before the court to request the application of preventive measure of arrest for 30 days.
A criminal investigation was initiated on this case. If found guilty, the suspects are facing from 7 to 15 years in prison.
Please note that during the period of time from January to November, the police officers have documented 69 cases regarding illicit trafficking of heroin. Also, 80 people involved in the trafficking of heroin, were documented in 2016.
As a result of the measures taken, about 825 grams of heroin were seized from the illicit circuit, the estimated value of which is about 2 million lei on the black market.
