Law enforcement agents neutralized an organized criminal group dealing drugs. They detained two civilians and three police officers, members of the group.
Officers of Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and prosecutors for organized crime and special causes have surveilled the criminal activities of the group for several months.
According to law enforcers, the group members were dealing heroin-type drugs, marijuana and poppy straw, primarily in northern districts of the country, being protected by the employees of some administrative authorities and MIA institutions.
The police have established that the scheme of illegal drug circulation involved two police officers and one of their former colleagues.
Having made three test purchases, the police identified some people consuming drugs, who bought drugs from the dealers.
IPAS officers and anticorruption prosecutors conducted seven searches in the offices of the police officers involved, in the suspects’ homes and cars.
However, the prosecuting authority is to carry out criminal prosecution and special measures to ensure further investigation and establish other individuals involved.
A criminal case for illegal circulation of drugs, ethnobotanics or analogues thereof for the purpose of alienation was initiated.
If found guilty, the suspects risk a prison term of 7-15 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions, or practice certain activities for a period of 2-5 years.
