A 42-year-old man and a 50-year-old man from Chisinau are being investigated for forgery and alien registration card type “Green Book”, for cars registered in Lithuania, Bulgaria and Moldova. The suspects were selling the documents for 35 euro each.
The illicit schemes of counterfeiting and circulation of the policies practiced by men, have been documented by the law enforcement authorities for 3 months.
Thus, the competent authorities have established that the suspects were operating for about a year. The alien registration cards type "Green Book" were sold by the suspects at 35 euros each.
Searches were carried out at the suspects’ residencies. Following the searches the police found and seized registration papers, power of attorney, contracts. Also, the police found on their computers some stamp prints from Bulgaria and Lithuania and some insurance cards that were filled in already.
A criminal investigation was initiated in this case, based on the Art. 361 par. (2) of the Criminal Code: “The manufacture, possession, sale or use of official documents, printed materials, false stamps or seals”.
According to the legislation, individuals guilty of committing this crime shall be punished by a 10 000 to 30 000 lei fine or by imprisonment for up to 5 years.
The men are investigated at large.
