Deputy Mayor of Chisinau Vlad Cotet, will stay in arrest for another 30 days. Center District Court of the Capital rejected on Monday, September 19th, the offcial's defenders endeavor, who asked the court to place him under house arrest.
So, the three magistrates investigating the case of corruption in the Chisinau City Hall, followed the arguments of the prosecutor Eugen Balan, that placing Cotet under house arrest could prejudice the examination.
"House arrest does not guarantee that he will not be visited by the defendants, does not guarantee that he will not have access to electronic means of communication with them, so he has all the possibilities of coordination of positions to develop measures of evading prosecution or destroying the evidence " said the lawman.
Deputy Mayor Vlad Cotet and Radu Blaj, Deputy Head of Architecture and Urban Planning Directorate, were arrested Wednesday, May 25, by the Anti-Corruption officers, being suspected of passive corruption, abuse of power and forgery of public documents. Simultaneously, has been detained an employee of the State Construction Inspectorate, but also two intermediate people. Originally, Radu Blaj was in custody at home, but was later released and reinstated.
Center District Court began examining the case on Friday, September 16th.
