Dorin Chirtoaca's lawyers challenged to the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) the decision on the registration of the initiative group to collect signatures in favor of the referendum on the dismissal of the mayor of Chisinau.

The information was confirmed for CrimeMoldova by Valeriu Bogdan, head of the Legal Assistance Department of the Chisinau City Hall. "The lawyers also demanded suspension of the Court of Appeal's decision. I believe that the Supreme Court of Justice will announce its decision within a month, as it is a pressing issue," Bogdan said.

On April 27, the Court of Appeal admitted the Socialists' request for the registration of the initiative group to collect the signatures for the initiation of the referendum on the dismissal of Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca.

On May 11, the Chisinau District Court handed the subscription lists and ID cards to members of the initiative group to collect the necessary signatures.

To organize the referendum itself, the initiative group has 60 days to collect about 64,000 signatures.

At the same time, the president of the initiative group, the councilor of the SPRM, Ion Ceban, wrote this morning that yesterday, the group managed to collect 29 122 signatures.

We remind you that the SPRM initiated a campaign against Dorin Chirtoaca and repeatedly accused him of the degrading condition of Chisinau. It is the second attempt of the Socialists to dismiss Chirtoaca, as the first one failed.
