The Minister of Justice, Alexandru Tanase announced today that he will present his resignation letter in the upcoming days. He said he did not want to become an electoral target and that this resignation would also mean the end of his public career.
The announcement was made by Alexandru Tanase on his facebook page, after on Friday, March 9, JurnalTV published a phone call from 2015 between him and businessman Veaceslav Platon, about bank robbery.
During the discussion, Platon tells Tanase that, Dorin Dragutanu (former governor of the National Bank of Moldova) is definitely involved in the stealing of the billion. Tanase replies that he does not really think he "stole the billion". Platon, however, tries to convince him of this fact, saying he has specific evidence. The businessman says that both Vlad Plahotniuc and Ilan Şor are involved in the theft of the billion but also other politicians: "With regard to banks, this could not have been achieved without politicians. It was led by politicians. Politicians were the main ones. Of course, Ilan has a great deal to blame for he started. Politicians have already been connected to the end. And they ended the situation. But the biggest hole, of course, was made by Ilan. Certainly," says Platon.
After publishing the record, Alexandra Tanase wrote that it is illegal and does not reveal anything interesting than the very existence of the discussion itself.
Alexandru Tanase leaves office as Justice Minister just two months after being appointed.
The businessman Veaceslav Platon is in Penitentiary No. 13, after he was sentenced to 18 years in April 2017, because he would have received bad loans from the savings Bank worth about 800 million lei. On December 12, 2017, Platon was sentenced to another 12 years in prison for swindling.
