Thursday, December 15, the Parliament deprived Vlad Filat of his deputy mandate. A decision to this effect was passed by a simple majority on the proposal of the Legal Commission for Appointments and Immunities.
According to that decision, the legislature states, "termination of the right to exercise the function of deputy by Vladimir Filat". A copy of the sentence and the prosecution’s request to deprive Filat of parliamentary immunity was annexed to the decision.
Tudor Deliu, LDP deputy challenged that decision, arguing, "Filat may yet appeal the decision to the Supreme Court."
"What happened here is further proof that Filat's trial was a political one", Deliu said.
