Veaceslav Platon, accused by Anticorruption prosecutors of stealing in large proportions from the Moldovan banking system, was extradited by the Ukrainian authorities. Plato was escorted Tuesday, August 30, to the Buiucani Court, where the judge, Victor Răţoi, put pending on the examination of the motion on the issue of the prosecutors for the arrest for a period of 30 days.
Ion Vizdoaga, lawyer of Platon sought the removal of the court. So the hearing was postponed to Thursday, September 1st, as the trial court had no other magistrates, on the grounds that state employees are on a short holiday on the occasion of national holidays.
The businessman Veaceslav Platon, is accused by Anti-corruption prosecutors of money laundering in large proportions, which damaged the banking system with over MDL 800 million.
Shortly after being arrested in Ukraine, Platon told the media he is innocent and that everything would be staged by PDM deputy, Vlad Plahotniuc, and has evidence that he would be involved in the theft of the billion.
