The Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, made it clear to the press that former president of the Transnistrian region, Evgheni Shevchuk, is in Chisinau. At the same time, the Speaker informed that security forces are keeping the situation under control undertaking all the necessary actions.
The statements were made on the evening of Thursday, July 13, following the meeting of the Legislative Body. Candu mentioned that the Chisinau authorities know all the details of this case. "The maximum effort is being made to comply with the rules of human rights protection and respect the security of the Republic of Moldova," the speaker said.
"As for the decisions of the so-called Transnistrian republic, where the human rights are not respected, there is a big question mark in everything related to the so-called criminal cases or immunities coming from this region. Everything that relates to Shevchuk’s case is handled by specialized institutions of the RM," Candu added.
We remind you that in the parliamentary session, the LDPM faction called for the organization of parliamentary hearings on this issue for the second consecutive week, but the proposal was not supported by the parliamentary majority.
With respect to Shevchuk's location, the national press wrote that he and his wife, Nina Shtanski, are in Chisinau, living in a luxurious house in the center of the city. At the same time, the home of the two is under constant protection.
