The Director of the Intelligence and Security Service (ISS), Vitalie Pârlog, resigned two months after his appointment. The request was filed on February 19, at the Parliament.

Pârlog specified that "he has decided to continue to work only on the INTERPOL dimension and to pursue the important reforms initiated earlier".

Currently, the request for resignation is under examination at the Legal Commission, Appointments and Immunities.

Pârlog's appointment as Director of the ISS took place at a Parliament meeting on December 21.

Vitalie Pârlog served as Justice Minister during communist ruling. He was also a representative of the Government at the ECHR, and lately President of the INTERPOL File Control Commission.
