The case of violence against a child in the Kindergarten no. 55 of Chisinau, presented by RISE on Child's Day, ended in disciplinary penalties and resignations.
Following the publication of the material, the Government decided to create a cross-sectoral working group to investigate the case, and today, June 8, it presented the conclusions.
Thus, according to the press release of the Government, group members discussed with the director of the kindergarten, teachers and parents.
Additionally, experienced psychologists evaluated several children from the kindergarten class. Both teachers and children confirmed cases of verbal abuse.
Following the investigation, initiated at the request of the Government, the General Direction of Education, Youth, Sport of the Chisinau Municipal Council is to apply appropriate disciplinary measures in respect of the director. The penalty aims to prevent toleration of abusive behavior of kindergarten staff with respect to children and inactivity, following parental referral.
Additionally, the teacher concerned and her assistant submitted resignation requests as of 31 May.
Against the backdrop of the incident, Prime Minister ordered organizing a national evaluation of the children’s treatment in pre-school educational institutions. The results of this assessment and the measures to be implemented are to be submitted for examination and approval to the National Council for the Protection of Child's Rights by 5 July 2017.
